We are truly delighted to know of your interest in the performing arts!

The Theatre and Dance Program is a student-centered unit where our liberal arts curriculum is fused with an approach that involves professional training in the heart of Washington, D.C., the second-largest theatre city in the country.  We offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts, with specialized tracks in Performance/Production and Educational Drama, and a minor in Dance. The education we offer combines the classroom with a myriad wealth of opportunities for hands-on production experience at both undergraduate and professional levels, since we advocate learning by doing.  To help foster this practical experience, we bring in guest artists on a regular basis, which is why we are proud to have a professional theatre company in residence. In addition to expanding students’ creative and critical thinking abilities as well as their intellectual curiosity, students come to discover, build upon, and apply their creative skill sets to our campus stage productions.

Theatre, dance, and the performing arts are increasingly recognized and valued by business leaders as among the critical incubators catalyzing the creation of a collaborative, innovative, versatile, and most importantly, employable workforce of the 21st Century.  Since our students need every single competitive advantage that they can get, we firmly believe that our program should be the best for those seeking a proactive, accessible, quality performing arts education which prepares them well for the realities of working in professional theatre, educational settings, and non-theatre fields.  The faculty and staff in our program believe that we must always be at the vanguard of cultivating the next generation of Deaf performing artists, creative thinkers/problem-solvers, educators, and leaders.

If you would like to request additional information about our program—or to arrange for a visit—please feel free to contact me.  We look forward to meeting you.
